Maldives, also known as the Republic of Maldives, is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean. Located in the South of the Indian Lakshadweep Island, the inhabitants of this land were Buddhist. The people, their beliefs, their customs are very unique and tourists are always interested in acquiring every bit of information.

The food at Maldives is as cosmopolitan as the land. The special kind of food is also one of the reasons for tourist to visit Maldives. Starches like rice, flour, tubers like taro or ala, sweet potato or ‘kattala’ or tapioca or ‘dandialuvi’ as well as fruits like breadfruit or ‘bambukeyo’ or screwpine or ‘kashikeyo’ are consumed by tourists too.

The weather in Maldives changes from time to time since it is situated by the equator and has monsoonal weather. Maldives have two seasons mainly, wet season (southwest monsoon) and dry season (northeast monsoon). However, as the place is situated by the sea, the climate is usually moderate and people can visit the place throughout the year. Some of the main tourist attractions in Maldives are Baa Atoll, Coral reefs, beaches, Grad Friday Mosque, Fuamulaku, Kudahuvadhoo.

Marco Polo referred to Maldives as the 'Flower of the Indies' and it, rightly, is attracting tourist from all over the world.
